254SMO is an austenitic stainless steel, also known as super stainless steel or six-moly steel (UNS 31254). Its high molybdenum content of 6% gives it extremely high resistance to point and crevice corrosion, making it particularly suitable for environments with halide ions, such as corrosion in seawater with chloride ions.
254SMO excels in acidic environments containing halide ions, demonstrating excellent resistance to uniform corrosion. It is referred to as pure austenitic stainless steel, offering high cost-effectiveness.
