Inconel 625, also known as Alloy 625, N06625 alloy, is a high-temperature austenitic superalloy primarily composed of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum. While originally designed for high-temperature applications, this alloy exhibits exceptional corrosion resistance across a wide range of corrosive environments, from highly oxidizing conditions to general corrosive atmospheres, making it highly resistant to corrosion and cracking.
Thanks to the solid-solution strengthening effect of molybdenum and niobium found in nickel-chromium alloys, Inconel 625 offers exceptional strength and fatigue resistance from low temperatures to 1093°C, making it a popular choice in the aerospace industry. It also demonstrates remarkable resistance to corrosion in chloride-contaminated media, including seawater, geothermal water, neutral salts, and brine. In various industries such as coal chemical, oil and gas, and the production of bellows expansion joints, N06625 alloy finds extensive applications. In welding projects and various super-austenitic stainless steel applications, Inconel 625 wire materials are widely used.
Exceptional corrosion resistance to various corrosive media in both oxidizing and reducing environments.
Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion without susceptibility to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking.
Outstanding resistance to inorganic acids such as nitric, phosphoric, sulfuric, and hydrochloric acids, as well as mixed acid solutions.
Impressive resistance to corrosion from various mixed inorganic acid solutions.
Effective corrosion resistance in hydrochloric acid solutions at various concentrations, even at 40°C.
Good processability and welding characteristics with low susceptibility to post-weld cracking.
Approved for pressure vessel manufacturing with a wall temperature range of -196°C to 450°C.
Complies with the highest standard (Grade VII) for use in acidic gas environments as certified by the American Society of Corrosion Engineers (NACE MR-01-75).
Matching Welding Materials:
ERNICRMO-3 welding wire and ENICRMO-3 welding rods are suitable for welding with Inconel 625.
Inconel 625 exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in many media. It demonstrates outstanding resistance to chloride ion pitting, crevice corrosion, intergranular corrosion, and erosion in chloride-containing environments. It also boasts good resistance to inorganic acids like nitric, phosphoric, sulfuric, and hydrochloric acids, as well as resistance to alkaline and organic acid corrosion in oxidizing and reducing environments. It effectively resists chloride ion-induced stress corrosion cracking. In seawater and industrial gas environments, it experiences minimal corrosion, even in high-temperature corrosive conditions. It is not sensitive to stress corrosion during welding or in static or cyclic environments, showing resistance to carburization and oxidation, and resisting gas corrosion in chloride-rich environments.
Inconel 625 is commonly employed in various industrial components for processes involving organic chemistry and chlorides, particularly when acidic chloride catalysts are used. It is also a preferred choice for the production of pulp and paper industry equipment, such as digesters and bleach tanks.
In the field of flue gas desulfurization, Inconel 625 is utilized in crucial components including absorbers, reheaters, flue gas inlet baffles, wet fans, agitators, deflectors, and ductwork.
Furthermore, this alloy is a reliable option for the manufacturing of equipment and parts designed for use in acidic gas environments. It is favored in applications like acetic acid and acetic anhydride reaction vessels and sulfuric acid condensers.
